San Diego Fair and Fire Expo

Yesterday was the annual Fire Expo at the San Diego Fair and you better believe we were first in line.  Not only was there a firetruck parade with pumpers, ladder trucks, ambulances, brush rigs...

They set a car on fire and then pur it out, staged a car accident victim retrieval, showcased K-9 dogs and even let the kids participate in a hose pull, house escape, and learn how to use a fire extinguisher.  In Jack and Charlie's eyes - THE BEST DAY EVER!

The funniest moments of the day were watching Charlie "stop, drop and roll" -  My Mom took them over to the free t shirt booth where we told Charlie to roll and he just listens and starts rolling on the floor, has no idea why or what he's getting for it.  HILARIOUS. Here's the video.

And the funniest thing was when the boys entered the fire safety house to see how quickly a room can fill up with theatrical smoke...LOL.  Well lets just say Charlie thought it was the real deal and while we are watching all the kids climb down the ladder, we hear stomping footsteps through the trailer and here comes Charlie running for his life.  It was as if someone had caught him on fire.  He was like "screw the window, I know where the door to this joint is."

Here are a ton of pictures of the fair and the Fire Expo.  Large post today.

Ans let's not forget the brilliant people watching and food we also enjoyed at the fair.

Jack's first lizard

Yesterday while trying to clean up I heard Jack scream from the front yard and so me and Charlie go running out there.  Well Jack had found a lizard and so being the good Mother I am I go into automatic "we have to catch it" mode and get a spatula and a sand bucket and force it into our enclosure.  We spent the next hour making it a nice home in a rubbermaid bucket, complete with dirt, water and rocks.  We even went as far to go to Petsmart and get him crickets.  Everything was going well until we forgot about him out there in the front yard a few hours later and the neighborhood cat ate him.  Well so we think.  Jack was so sad he cried and cried.  But atleast we got pictures with his first lizard.

The Beta Fish

I finally caved in and we got Beta Fish from Walmart yesterday.  Everytime we have gone to Walmart in the past 18 months we have to make a stop at the fish area and Charlie wants to hold the little cup with Beta Fish and if he is really lucky he can keep him in the cart while we shop.  Charlie named his Scooby Doo and Jack's is Big Blue.  Here is a picture of Dewie seeing a fish for the first time.

Holy Cow!

Today me and the boys and some friends from the playgroup went to Oma's Dairy Farm for a tour and some free play.  Charlie has always loved anything to do with farms and farm animals so he was especially excited and all the way there he was double checking what animals were going to be there.

We took a tractor tour of the cow barn, and even got see how they milked the cows.  In the petting zoo there was a baby cow that was so cute and a goat with an attitude that wouldn't leave Charlie alone.  Of course I didn't help him , I just recorded it and laughed.  LOL.  Jack was so excited that he finally worked up the courage to sled down the cotton seed hill.  He says..."I am not shy anymore."  LOL

Here are pictures and videos from todays adventure.  Oh and Charlie shared his ice cream with the barn cat.
